The PGA tour season is up and running, and I know this makes us all a little bit anxious to get back out on the course. In the mean time, I have an indoor putting drill that can help everyone with their touch and speed. Given that the average golfer 3 putts more often than not, this speed drill should help get our first putt a little closer to the hole, and who knows maybe the odd 1 putt. For this drill all you need is your putter, a golf ball and a carpeted area in your house. What I want you to do is clear a little wall space and from any given distance, putt towards the wall trying to get the ball as close as possible to the wall without hitting it. This should help you learn to control your speed. If you find you are consistently hitting the wall, try to slow it down, loosen up your grip and be smoother. Vary your distance away from the wall and try to let the ball come to rest anywhere from 2-6 inches from the baseboard. If you can achieve this, you will be amazed at how much your speed and judgement will improve when you get out on the course!! For any other quick tips, feel free to contact me via e-mail. |
